About Me
My name is Lorna Ellis-Harding. I am a nationally certified Massage Practitioner and licensed to practice massage therapy in the State of Connecticut. My license number is 005442. I am trained in a variety of modalities which gives me the ability to have many tools in my toolbox, and to integrate them in my work with each client. Some of these modalities are posted on "My Services" page.
The focus of the practice of Ecarg Therapeutic Bodyworks, LLC is basically Health and Wellness. The Massage focus is primarily on Pain Management and Stress Management. Since we have to deal with so much of the skin, it becomes a no-brainer to make that another focus, which is being developed. What we are about is health and wellness and everyone wants to maintain good health and well-being. Massage represents a portion of that whole health and wellness regime. We cannot stop there, we need to complement alternative and traditional medicine together as much as possible to get the best of both worlds for our clients. Thus, we have partnered with Drs2Health (a Holistic Healthcare and Consultatation practice that personalize care for optimal health and wellness); and secondly with Victorious Consulting (a business model that helps people focus on healthy lifestyle choices including weight management). An educational component is linked to each segment of my practice to help clients become more aware of their bodies and what they can do to make good choices in the promotion of wellness.
Today, more and more people are experiencing pain and stress in their body, work, home, and relationship. Pain is one of the four tell-signs of inflamation in the body. It lets you know something is wrong which can create stressors by the Sympathetic Nervous System and ultimately lead to more serious problems. The traditional way of managing pain in recent years has become very expensive and less and less controlled. This allows people to look for other forms of treatment options to manage their pain. Each year as the numbers of pain sufferers increase (which will happen), the need for better pain control with little or no side effects become very important.
There are various kinds of pain experienced in the body. Take back pain for example, research has shown that 80-90% of Americans will encounter some from of back pain in their lives. That's a very high percentage, but what about the other types of pain and the possibility of one person having multiple types. This sets up an overwhelming problem and a vicious cycle for maintaining health and wellness. Having experienced pain myself, the ability and training to relieve it, and the desire to help others, I have made it my goal to make a difference to many by bring back some quality of life to pain sufferers everywhere.
