About Me

My name is Lorna Ellis-Harding.  I am a nationally certified Massage Practitioner and licensed to practice massage therapy in the State of Connecticut.  My license number is 005442.  I am trained in a variety of modalities which gives me the ability to have many tools in my toolbox, and to integrate them in my work with each client.  Some of these modalities are posted on "My Services" page.

The focus of the practice of Ecarg Therapeutic Bodyworks, LLC is basically Health and Wellness.  The Massage focus is primarily on Pain Management and Stress Management.  Since we have to deal with so much of the skin, it becomes a no-brainer to makes skin care another focus, which is being developed.   What we are about is health and wellness and everyone wants to maintain good health and well-being.  Massage represents a portion of that whole health and wellness regime.  We cannot stop there, we need to complement alternative and traditional medicine together as much as possible to get the best of both worlds for our clients.  Therefore, we have partnered with Drs2Health (a Holistic Healthcare and Consultatation practice that personalize care for optimal health and wellness); and secondly with Victorious Consulting (a business model that helps people focus on healthy lifestyle choices including weight management).  An educational component is linked to each segment of my practice to help clients become more aware of their bodies and what they can do to make good choices in the promotion of wellness.

Today, more and more people are experiencing pain and stress than every - pain that comes with aging, pain relating to surgery and injury from sports, work, home, and motor vehicle accidents.  The stress on the other hand can lead to emotional pain which can manifest itself as physical pain.  Too much stress on or in the body for extended time can lead viceral problems thereby setting up a vicious cycle.

Pain is one of the four tell-signs of inflammation.  Pain lets you know something is wrong in the body, stimulates stressors to affect other organs and puts the Sympathetic Nervous System into over drive which can lead to some more serious health issues.  The traditional way of managing pain has become very costly with not enough results to balance the cost. This allows people to look for other forms of treatment option to manage their pain.  Each year as the number of pain sufferers increase, the need for better pain management (with little or no side effects), becomes very important.

There are various kinds of pain experienced in the body.  Take back pain for example, research has shown that 80-90% of Americans will encounter some from of back pain in their life time, that is a very high percentage, and what about the other types of pain or the possibility of one person having multiple types.  This sets up an overwhelming problem and a vicious cycle for maintaining health and wellness.  Having experienced pain myself which resulted from a fall in 9/2006, I know what it feels like and therefore can empathise with my clients.  I know how to relieve my pain without medication and I also know how to relieve others of their pain as well.  I work with all kinds of pain sufferers and have helped many to see results in mainly one to three sessions.  Others I refer to the appropriate professional when the issue is out of my scope of practice.  Thus, it is my goal to help pain sufferers manage their pain, make them feel better, and bring back some quality of life to them.
